A friend of mine turned me on to an author Tananarive Due a year or so ago and myself and another friend were discussing the 2nd Book "The Living Blood."  Basically the book is about immortal Africans living here on earth in current day time.  It's an amazing tale.

The story of these immortal men and women living with the blood of Jesus running thru their veins...made us think..."What would you do if you had an infinite amount of time to be young, and healthy...forever?

What skill would you develop?

What talent would you perfect?

What would be your vocation?

What parts of your mind would you explore? Meditation? Telepathy

What languages would you learn to speak?

What would you do to make a difference in the world/society?

Would you live reclusively?

If your loved one's and friends were not immortal would you look at your immortal life as a curse?

If you haven't all ready read these books pick them up!  Thanks Chika for turnin' me on to something I can't stop thinking about.

Expound...sounds interesting.

Yeah I think how we define life, time, things can be limiting or freeing but it's the not knowing for sure that makes one wonder (well me anyway).

hmmm very interesting, i had to really think about this one. I remember you telling me to check out that tananarieve author, i haven't done so yet but i will. I agree with Divine on one count that time is really subjective to how the individual sees it. To me time is like renting a hall and making the most of it until you have to give it back. It will exist with or without you and having enough of it depends on the sacrifices you wish to make to ensure you do all that you want to do before it's time to hand it over.

I believe that even as an immortal you can still not accomplish everything you want to unless you are prepared to make sacrifices, because there will always be an alternative and different people in your life no matter how long or short.
We often hear people using the phrase "living on borrowed time" i believe that is true to a certain extent as well. The problem of not accomplishing all you want is not necessarily to do with time but with resources and with other influences or people that we choose to put first. We usually act on a scale of necessity or what is more important...( u know like shall i travel the world today or do something that might benefit not just me but someone else too)

Okay lets try an answer some of these questions with the point of view that there is always time it's all about trying to make the most of it whilst we occupy it....

1. I'd learn to play an electric guitar and the piano i luv those instruments. My uncle was a member of a band when i was younger, he played an electric guitar  i used to enjoy going to see him play as a kid, ever since i just loved the electric guitar.

2. I'd perfect my singing try to be as good as Anthony ;-)

3. I believe i'd still be doing the same thing...working on becomming a solicitor.

4.I am already thinking of learning more about meditation as a friend of mind whose into capoeira and win chung suggested to me a lil while back.

5.As for telepathy ...don't even get me started on that one, when i was about 17 I read a book by John Wyndham called The Chrysalids it was about some kids that had these telepathic abilities which they used to help each other in a world where the majority of the things we consider to be normal were considered to be deviations.  I still believe to this day that everyone has a little telepathy in them it's just a matter of seeking out and understanding that part of your mind. I have always been fascinated by anything t do with telepathy so i'd definitely explore that.

6.Me gusta Espanol...so it would definitely have to be spanish i just love the language, from the twirl of the r to their dances. I would love to speak it fluently. Then probrably french and Hindi.

7.Hmmm..i would want to work with the youths, there are enough people working on poverty and sicknesses and what not. I would like to work with kids from the so called "ghetto" (which  i consider to be a a state of the mind) as the part of Trini i'm from is also considered the "ghetto" and i've seen what drives people to be the way they are..and i genuinely believe i understand them. hmmm... probrably another reason why i chose law.

8.I think to some extent i'm already a little reclusive...so no i wouldn't live reclusively, think i'd try to be a little more trusting and daring!!lol

9....not a curse but i'd probrably be lost without them.

Well Anthony I could answer quite a few of these questions now. But I'm going to look for this book at Barnes & Noble first. Then I'll come back and post my views later.
